Manholes & Soil Pipes

Manhole Repairs & Soil Pipe Repairs

J&F Drainage have experience building and repairing manholes and soil pipes.

Should you be extending your drainage system and require new access locations, or require manhole repairs for those which may have collapsed, we can help.

We can build manholes to your specifications between 1 and 4 metres deep and connect it to your existing drainage system for improved access.

Manholes may require repair due to old age or subsidence which causes the benching around the manhole to breakaway and cause blockages.

Most of these problems can be easily repaired without interruption by rebuilding the benching and re-sealing the tier.

We also replace old and broken manhole covers to prevent leakage from the surface.

We fit and replace all types and sizes of soil pipes and vents pipes.

A soil pipe is part of a system that removes sewage and grey water from a building and regulates air pressure in the waste-system pipes, facilitating flow. Waste is produced at fixtures such as toilets, sinks and showers, and exits the fixtures through a trap, a dipped section of pipe that always contains water. All fixtures must contain traps to prevent sewer gases from leaking into the house. Through traps, all fixtures are connected to waste lines, which in turn take the waste to a soil stack, or soil vent pipe. At the building drain system’s lowest point, the drain-waste vent is attached, and rises (usually inside a wall) to and out of the roof. Waste is removed from the building through the building drain and taken to a sewage line.
